2004 Chevy Tahoe XM Bose stereo stopped working?

About a year ago the 6 CD player stopped working and now the CD icon on the radio just flashes and when I press the eject button the readout says no CD. There are 6 CD's in it. The radio and rear entertainment/DVD system works fine. I took it to the dealer and they said they would have to replace the in dash unit, but I tend to believe they are feeding me a line. Any input is much appreciated.

have you ever bought a small jukebox type mini radio like the ones with two crappy 12 watt speakers on each side and a cd deck on top? imagine taking that apart, resodering and rewiring the entire thing just to fix the cd deck, honestly go to a junk yard and get a new one you can replace it yourself all the area around the cd player in your truck pops off for easy access and the wires are bundled into brick plugs so they come right in and right out no wiring necessary. now the CDs you have an easy choice ask them how much it would be to get them out compared to how much they cost. bam
