Recently, I noticed a clunking sound when I was slowing down and also when I was accelerating slowly. I put it on ramps the other day to see if I could find where the noise was coming from. Turns out there is some loose motion where the cv axle inserts into the transaxle in the front (I think that's what it is, but either way whatever it is that it inserts into that's located in the middle of the truck). When I start slowing down I'm assuming that the cv axle stops turning true since there's loose motion where it's inserted, which is causing the sound. What is causing this problem and how do I fix it? Is the cv axle shaft worn or is it a seal or bearing gone out in the transaxle that's causing the play in it? Just so ya'll know, the cv axle is in perfect shape as far as the boots go. No tears, grease showing, etc.
