2008 dodge Dakota Error Code P 0300?

I have a 2008 dodge dakota and I recently got the check engine light.

I live in chicago, where the temperature is currently in the single digits every day. I just got the light monday. After checking the error code, it is P 0300. any idea what that means? I can't find any for Dodge Dakotas online anywhere, but for older dodges, it means cylinders misfiring. Is there a way to determine more of what the problem might be without a trip to a mechanic (I'm short on $$$ at the moment)

yes if you go to an auto zone near by they can narrow it down for you ,that could be caused by a weak plug in it,cold weather has strange affects on engines,po300 is just a code for random miss fire,if it was me id try changing the plugs in it first thing,a bad set of plugs is usually the cause of it,good luck

An 08? do you still have the factory warranty? It should be covered be it if you do. But to check if its miss firing you can see if any extra gas is being spit out of the tail pipe. Also is it knocking at idle? If you disconnect the battery and wait for 30 sec. and reconnect the bat does the check engine light come back on? Also if you put premium in does it go away? One cheep way of checking for engine knocking is to take a wooden broom handle and put one end at the top of one cylinder and your ear to the other. Just listen to see if one sounds different from the rest. If one does then it might be miss firing. I would try a higher octane like 93 to see if it stops. If not then it might be one of the censers and that could be throughing off the computer. This new shutting down of cylinders at high way speeds can get touchy in the winter. Sorry that's all I got for you. I hope it gives you some options. Best of luck to you.
