2008 Grand Prix: Hot air permanently coming out of vents?

A/C not working at all. One day it was working the next it wasn't. When idling if I turn on the A/C the RPM's jump a little so I don't think it's a compressor issue. The air gets boiling hot if you turn the vent on full blast.
 
Easy, Get rid of it. It is something in the heating core. My boyfriends did the same thing. We had our friend take it apart, and it works now, but the part was as big as my pointer finger and over $130. Grand Prix=Lemon
