Hi, I've recently been looking into getting my first car, as I acquired my G2 a couple months back. I've been looking into the Mitsubishi Lancers, specifically the DE model, as it is more in my price range. My dad purchased a 2003 Saturn Vue with a CVT transmission for $4800 as a service vehicle and kept his truck as a hauler. He had planned on giving the Saturn to me when I got a job to pay for insurance (which would've been just over $4500/yr) Well, at 160,000KM the transmission went in the Saturn and we sold it for $750, about 7 months after we bought it because it was over $5000.00 to replace the tranny.
Upon reading multiple reviews for the Lancer, I learned that it too uses the CVT transmission.
Has anyone had or noticed any issues with their CVT transmission in the Lancers? I would hate to purchase one and have it be a total flop like the Saturn was. Thanks in advanced for any help
Also, would you recommend this car for a first car? What are the pros/cons? I'm not gonna lie, I'm 17, so like a stereotypical 17 year old, I like to drive fast and erratic, so does it handle well and have good acceleration? How well does it perform?
