Hi I'm 22 years old and have never rode a street bike before and hardly been on dirtbikes and quads. I'm looking to get a motorcycle and I seen the Suzuki GS500F is nicely priced and i can get it brand new for $4,300 with 1.99% fixed intreset rate. What I want to know is this a good starter bike for someone like me? I weigh 205lbs and I'm 6'2" tall, I sat on a ninja 250R and i felt like a fool riding a girls bike.

Yes. I'm 190lb, 6'0'' and I ride a 2009 GS500f. Plenty of power for the twisties but still a nice suspension for the highway. You'll have trouble keeping up with the gixxers, R1s and CBRs on the highways, but who cares? The twin has really friendly power delivery, so no accidental wheelies. Good bike, my only complaints are that the gearbox is a little choppy (grinds going into and out-of of neutral, tech said that was what that model does so I just always start in 2nd) and there was some spot-rust on the kickstand, etc. after being rained on just once. Good bike, you won't regret picking it up. Looks way cooler than the ninjette too.

Nice bike. My neighbor just bought a new one for $4900 CDN. Excellent bike to start with. The Ninja is too small for your frame.

Hope you learn FAST!
You're a big boy but I do hope you invest some cash in a MSF course and good riding gear.

Yea its a decent starter bike, but buy it used and invest in as much gear as possible.
