...Whats going on/Cause for concern? My resting heart rate is normal. For most of my life I was an athlete in very good shape, I was injured a few years ago and didn't take the best care of my body in the interim. I also have been on prozac for a month. I am not overweight and I feel like I am reasonably fit. Can anyone offer any insight or advice into my situation.

I am a 29 yr old woman and after 7 minutes on the stair climber my heart rate said 172, i asked my doctor about it, he put me on a treadmill in the office and told me to try it again and when my heartrate reached 174 in his office, he put me on the EKG machine and said everything was normal and he listened for any irregular heartbeats and said that when you first start an excercise regimen that maybe it will go as high as 175-180 but after your body gets used to it, the rate will go down and he told me its no cause for concern but he told me to excercise in intervals. its just your body circulating blood and oxygen around the body...the body isnt used to it so the body is scared its going to run out of oxygen but once you train your body to know that everytime you get on the bike and it never runs out of oxygen your body will start to trust you and stop pumping so much blood/oxygen around in fear...and stuff like that...thats how my doctor explained it
