98 accord possible alternator whine?

1998 Honda Accord LX 4Cyl Sedan. Got the timing belt service done on the car and got it back with this annoying whine. It hasn't changed tone or pitch in the last 800 miles had all the pully's checked along with the tension all was well. It was suggested to me that it may be my power steering pump so I had that replaced and the wine is still there! no change at all... Now I believe it's the alternator that's actually making the sound but I'm not sure and I'm broke... =/

Take or have taken of the alternator belt then start the car up .If the noise go`es away its youre alternator, but going by what you say and the noise is new the timing belt is too tight. Al.
