'99 Honda Prelude for $6000 Is that reasonable price?

Im looking to get my first car..It has 140,000 miles on it.I want to know more about the car before i buy it.I will be using the car to commute to school,and also for skating trips and road trips.If it is not a reliable car,what can i look into for the $6000 dollar range?
 
I looked it up on NADA.com this is a website with used car prices, clean retail (on a dealer lot) is about 6,825 bucks depending on what model. which means the dealer has checked it out and it is in excellent condition. If this is a private party then 4,500 would be my best offer.AND ONLY IF MY MECHANIC INSPECTED IT AND OKAYED IT, THATS A GOOD CHUNK OF CASH FOR A USED CAR
