99 nissan maxima, misfire problem?

99 nissan maxima, smells a lot like gas and shakes and idles high when in gear, I ran a scanner on it and it says "random misfire", I changed the spark plugs which were really bad. But car still runs hard and shakes and smells like gas really bad.Doesn't have it's full power and check engine light blinks.

Leaky fuel injectors (leaky meaning they don't shut off completely when closed). Some auto parts places will rebuild the injectors for you if you bring them in. If you decide to do this be sure you follow the instructions to de-pressurize the fuel system before you start taking things apart.

Something sounds terribly amiss. Was a timing belt job done recently before these symptoms presented? What has happened in the history of this car before this happened?
