In season 5, the third episode is called "The Replacement". In it, Xander is split into two parts, his confident side and his scared loser one sort of 
Now at the end of the episode, Riley declares his love for Buffy once again and how she is the one, but suddenly with a swift cold breeze running down your spine he simply says "But she doesn't love me"
Why is this? What has Buffy done up to this point to do that?
I have my own theories and interpretations, but I'd like to know what you guys think.
