A question about a dish network LNBF?

I have a Helix/lnbf housing off a old dishnetwork 500 dish, i know that the lnbf converts SHF frequencies down to UHF frequencies. What will the LNBF do when it receives a UHF/VHF signal? will it convert it further down the spectrum, not change the frequency and allow it to pass, or not change the frequency and terminate it.....what will happen?
