A question for Dish Network HD customers?

Can you get 1080p quality from your HD Dish Network receiver if you do not have a 1080p quality TV? The commercials make it seem like you can.
For example, what I mean is if you have an HD receiver and an HD TV that is only 720p, will your HD picture from your HD receiver automatically upgrade to 1080p?
