In pretty much any modern science fiction/horror movie involving aliens or monsters invading the earth, they rarely show the military dealing with the threat. For example the 2005 version of War of the Worlds had only one or two battle scenes in it that lasted a minute at most. The rest of the movie was about family drama, It's just ridiculous because the movie is entitled "WAR of the worlds" is it not? so why don't we get to see the actual war?
In Cloverfield, there was only one scene of the monster being attacked in detail, and even then it only lasted for a few seconds. I saw Skyline last night, and once again the scenes involving the military confronting the aliens was sparse and very short at best. Why is this? is it a budget thing? or is there something i'm missing?
I think if you're going to make a movie involving some apocalyptic invasion whether it be from aliens, zombies or monsters, you should show more action scenes particularly with the military. Do you agree?
jellybean: What you're describing is a DRAMA movie, not a scary science fiction action flick. And stop giving all the guys who answered thumbs down.
