A rant about "poser" hate?

I am tired of people labeling bands as “sellouts” or “posers” just because they made some money. What band does not want to make money? That just shows they are getting a bigger audience and spreading their message. It also happens when a band gets merchandise. I’ll admit that an anti-establishment band should not be about merchandise. But there is still the money thing. Would you be able to resist thousands of dollars (probably more) to just put your logo on a t-shirt and stuff? I don’t think I could. These guys are making top dollar for doing nothing. Isn’t that the American dream? So stop yelling “poser” whenever a band gets popular or makes some money. It’s what bands set out to do. Sure, they do it for the music and stuff too. But they cannot say the groupies, money and fame did not play a part in the decision to form a band.

I would like to clarify some comments I made recently regarding poser hate. Let us note first of all that poser hate's confreres can't defend their histrionics. Think about it, and I'm sure you'll agree with me. What we're involved in with poser hate is not a game. It's the most serious possible business, and every serious person—every person with any shred of a sense of responsibility—must concern himself with it. I do not wish to endorse nepotism but rather to illustrate that poser hate has come up with proven methods to ascribe opinions to me that I don't even hold. All you have to do is let your guard down. Let me conclude by saying that we who want to convince the government to clamp down hard on poser hate's zingers will not rest until we do.
