Can anybody recommend a lender which might take my partner on?
We are planning on buying a boat in a few months. For about 30K. By then we'll have 15K saved up. We will buy the boat together, but I am not a permanent resident yet and cant take out a loan at all.The problem is, that my partner has a default. It is actually a clear out. It is paid and will be deleted in 2010. It does show on his Baycorp file that he has been knocked back for credit a couple a times, however he does have a loan at the moment, But it's with one of those "special" finance companies, AFS, where he s on a horrendous high interest rate. But we are making weekly payments, which are about double the amount due each week. He is on 70K gross and I am on 30K gross.

I'd be glad for some advice, as we dont wanna have to go from lender to lender and have my partners baycorp (veda advantage) file pulled every time, which shows as well..

I already thought we might just get an up-to-date report ourself and go to a bank and just see what they say. His clear out is a really stupid story, he had sold his old car to a so called mate before he went overseas to live with me in Germany, his mate was meant to pay the outstanding amount on the loan, but he didnt pay all of it and we have no paperwork to prove that verbal agreement..
We didn't find out until we came back to Australia last year.

He has given a stat dec about this, which we can also show, although I dont think that'll help much..

I'd be glad for any advice.
