about tv shows where people laugh in the background?

how do they record that ?? do they laugh on the set while filming or do they hire a bunch of people to watch the show on a big screen and record their reactions ?? how does it all happen..... im curious... cuz it sounds perfect everytime..
 
They're called "laugh tracks." You can buy them from any place that does advertising-type recording or audio production. There are different KINDS of laughs for different situations; it's pretty interesting, believe it or not :-)

They can be recorded in many different circumstances; there are lots of tracks that have been in use for 40 or 50 years - laughter doesn't change much, even if the people producing it do.
 
Well, sometimes they have a live audience of people, but in
some shows, especially older ones I'd say, they have the sound
recorded in a "laugh machine".
