...Panic on startup... how can I fix it!? I have Ubuntu 9.1 Karmic Koala installed on my Vista as an application. I recently ran the large update I had pending with Update Manager. It worked fine until I shut it down and started again, then as I run my ubuntu I get this message:
"Kernel panic - not syncing: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(8,1)"
The Caps key flashes and I can't do anything at all. Trying to load in recovery mode still gives the same message. I can't afford to re-install it again because I'll have to download over a GB worth of applications and a ton of customizing to get back to where I am now.
I've checked the Ubuntu forums but no one seems to have a solution...
Assistance please!!
