...or Chanting? All religions have sacred praying beads which are helpful during Meditation or Chanting. Can some body gimme a list of all religions with the number of beads? If a link is given to me, than too it would be helpful. I am keen in knowing, how many beads are there as per Jews ???

Yes, Hinduism has the same mala, and actually "doing japa" is considered to be an excellent way to gain control over one's mind and concentrate on God.
I've been told that in China they did the beads, too, but it in olden days it was more associated with the higher classes.
In all beads, 108 is considered a perfect number, but shorter malas are sometimes worn around a wrist and just gone over again and again, doing as many prayers as possible in the time one has for prayer.
