I think people tend to think that we all want the same thing, regardless of their gender. It's hard to guess when something's a gender issue or a human issue at times.
One issue I'm curious about is clothing for females. I'm rather stereotypically male in many ways, considering it to be an imposition to even have to shave my face once a week. This said, it's unfathomable to me to care about fashion, much less make-up and hair styling, etc.
So it irks me when I see female politicians judged on their physical appearance. It also irks me when I see them spending obscene amounts of campaign funds on dresses and such. And in the weeks following Obama's election, I had points of being utterly disgusted at the stalker-like obsession on a national scale for the first lady and children's wardrobe.
This explained, is it natural for women to want to be judged based on fashion like this? Is this one way in which the genders are really different? Or are women too scared of being judged for not being fashionable? Or what?
Am I projecting too much of myself onto what I believe women would want in the absense of social pressure?
