Hello, I'm a 14 year old male teen looking to gain some muscle. I'm about 5'7 and weigh 123 pounds. I have very flabby skin so I'm trying to tone myself up. I've tried to do push ups to help work on my chest. To focus more on my chest I've put my hands more apart. When I do them slowly it's much more difficult, but when I do them quicker I feel a burning feeling on my arms much more stronger, which i believe is associated with muscle growth. On the other hand, when I do either one, I dont feel much strain on my chest. So, should I do my push ups faster or slower and also am i doing my push ups wrong, which is why i dont feel a strain on my chest?

lil man

do pull ups for your chest and your back!! thats what women look more at. push ups are good, but i suggest doin them with your arms more in so that you get the chest and you get the cut in your tricep area... arms meat a lot to females, they show more than your chest especially since you are soo young. and do them slow... the slower you go till you hit 9- degrees on the down the better. if you do a push up all the way down till your nose hits the ground you are over expanding your muscles which does not help to build muscle. just go slow, down to 90 degrees, and slow all the way back up without hyper extending your elbows(which means dont lock your elbows) do sets of 10 till you feel the burn of your muscles ripping, then let em breath. remember that in order to build muscle you have to rip the muscle then give it a day or two to build then rip it again and build... im a physical specialist for the USAF, so i know what im talkin about. hope this helps you out kid. enjoy your summer
