Am I the ONLY Non-Religous Christian who does NOT take the bible literally?

Geesh, this is silly. I am so in tune with myself, the knowledge and understanding of teachings from a man named Jesus and the oneness with a very greater power and I in NO WAY, SHAPE, OR FORM take the bible as anything more than a liturgical interpretation by it's authors. Is there anyone else out there that understands these authors were writing stories to DESCRIBE how they felt about a situation not to record history? I feel like I am fighting 2800 years of traditional belief but why? We are smarter than this people. This is proven now, no longer theoretical. Someone else must understand!
"Christian" defined in a proverbial sense "all that is noble, and good, and Christ-like" which is what I strive to be.

All people who answer with scripture to condemn others, please do keep in mind that Jesus was not a "Christian" and did not say you must take the New Testament LITERALLY, simply because the NT did not exist when Jesus was alive.

So I am not in the wrong whatsoever by having a greater understanding of biblical scripture, it's history, and it's authors.
Explore Imagination: Jesus didn't write the bible; therefore, you cannot say that Jesus actually said these things. It is widely accepted in biblical scholarship that the majority of the New Testament's authors used Hebrew Scripture to tie together a common focus and central relativeness between Jesus and the stories and prophecies of the Old Testament.

AskRealJesus.com: Like the site. We are in serious need of a Christian reformation.

Hopefully.

If the Bible was so "metaphorical" then why did Jesus refer to Adam and Eve, Noah, Moses, and Abraham all as true events? You're so in tune with Him, you should know this one.

You are exactly on track for the soon-and-coming major reformation of Christianity. You are exactly in tune. Don't stop. Oh, yes. A lot of people understand. (Not many on R&S, tho).

I totally disagree with you....I believe that once upon a time you were in-tune, but I know that it is necessary to get a TUNE-UP at least once a year to function properly...Schedule one ASAP because your fluids are running low>:)

The Bible is a man-made scripture of guidelines and principles for Christians. The religion in itself is false, and your God is an old myth from this man-made scripture.

The Bible is hundreds of years of writings, all coinciding and running parallel to actual events in history...
you try passing down a religion that will stay the same and cohesive over even 20 years

You mean, are you the only non religious "Christian" who does not take the Bible literally and is going to hell?

No, you're not alone.

Revelation 3:15-16
“I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot. So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth."

I understand completely, and your not alone, trust me.

Keep your ideas in tact girly.
Don't listen to the extremists and brainwashed individuals.

"We are smarter than this people."

No, many of us are not.

But yes, ponder this: "He did not tell them anything without using a parable, though he explained everything to his disciples in private." Mark 4:34

Gees Louise...we have been over this a thousand times! If you do not believe the Bible is the word of God then you cannot be a Christian. Do you realise how much you shock Atheists when Christians say they don't take the Bible literally but still believe in God or the 10 commandments or some part of it? You either believe the Bible is the word of God or you don't, simple.
