animal crossing lets go to the city fishing help :(?

when i play and i have the right date and time and i go to the sea to catch fish there is always one rather big one compared to the others when i put my normal rod it it goes up to it and bobs it then it does that a few times and when it goes under i pull up the wii remote but it never seams to catch :( what am i doing wrong?
