Animes like Monster - Not after "exaggerated" stuff?

I was just wondering if anyone knows of any animes like Monster which are relatively intelligent, I guess, and focus on humans rather than on "fantasy" characters? I don't really know how to explain it well: If you've seen Monster, you understand what I mean. I'm after something that is "believable"... Almost like something you could "translate" into an actual series with real actors.

Not that I don't like the fallen-angel-fighting-against-the-king-of-the-demon-realm-while-riding-a-motorcycle kind of show but I'm just after something a bit more realistic?

The Higurashi series is pretty good...
But the live action Japanese movie was a bit...effy.
lol

Monster was pretty wacked and I loved it...
How about you try reading the manga:
>>Liar Game
>>Bloody Monday
? These two already have a live j-drama adaptation from these mangas, but they dont have an anime to em~ I personally love it :)
