Anthony Kiedis incident. Your take?

Why is it Kiedis' responsibility to identify himself but not the responsibility of the security guard?
 
Well, Kiedis was the one looking for special dispensation given the current situation.
 
It doesn't say whether the security guy did or not. He probably was trying to explain but he didn't have much opportunity to do so.

But the security guard was the one looking for compliance. If you want to exert authority over me, you need to convince me that the authority is real. I wasn't brought up to bend over at the first sign of a man in a suit.
 
Nor do I, but I will at least stop and ask why not first. Ignoring and shoving them aside isn't a good plan.
 
And I was brought up not to view stopping, listening, and considering the wisdom of something being told to me as "bending over."
 
Funny thing is, had the security guard informed me that I couldn't enter because I was waiting for the Rolling Stones to leave, I'd have tried to enter anyway.

If the Rolling Stones wanted to make a quiet exit, they should have booked into a hotel with a back door.
 
Well, you were speaking from a position of hindsight, which is why I think it is important to therefore realize he was incorrect.
 
Say what? So by saying he thought Kiedis was just a fan and not a washed up rock star and treating him as a disruptive fan, you honestly believe I'm speaking from a position of hindsight?
 
For anyone who has ever worked a few security events/details, this reads like, "I have no idea what I'm talking about, but I want to sound authoritative."
 
He better NEVER have guards block entrances for HIS band when entering or leaving anywhere. Otherwise he would be a raging hypocrite.
 
More publicity, more record sales, more people at the concerts, more money.

He won't care at all.
 
If a MAP event in the future that requires security in the future, we know who to look out for.
 
I think describing Kiedis as "washed up" a bit harsh.
If that's being washed up then sign me up!!
 
Absolutely, I do authorative best. You would be right to apply that to 99% on the things I say.
 
What was the purpose of blocking Anthony Kiedis and his female partner from entering the hotel? Any decent competent security professional would see that the lead singer of the Red Hot Chilli Peppers and his missus are no more a security threat to the Rolling Stones than my Granny. A good security professional would have conducted an on the spot threat assessment and realised that he was more likely to create trouble than prevent it. Very poor.

Further, to all those that want to criticise Kiedis, do you stop every time some blocks you in the street? If you do, try walking through any big city past beggars, charity collectors (chuggers), sales people etc etc, you wouldn't get 20 yards without being stopped.
