Any good suggestions for removing excess hair?

My basset hound pup has started shedding ALLOT over the past few days. I know they tend to shed more then you would expect for a pretty short haired dog but it is getting all over the place and all over us! I tried a regular dog brush and a wire brush on him and it did not do much at all. Any ideas on what may work better?
 
If you bathe your dog more, that helps.

Also you can buy these glove like brushes and wear them while you pet your dog. That will remove alot of the hair.

Go to your local pet store and ask them to see their products concerning this.

Grooming, grooming and more grooming.

Get yourself a decent brush that effectively grips the hair. Most brushes just slide over the top and do little to remove loose hair.
