A few friends have cruisers and have asked if I want to ride with them before. I did but I cant take going so damn slow all the time. I seriously could stay in first with them on any back roads. It is so uncomfortable going under 80 atleast on sportbikes because you have to hold your weight on your arms the whole time. But once you get going it feels perfect. I feel bad never riding with them but they need bikes that they lean on damn it. Its no fun through twisties at all. The first time I rode with them they were all just going so slow I took off in the right hand lane no cars very long stretch and opened it up. I had to wait at the end of the road for about 3 minutes for them. I never have that issue riding with buddies on sport bikes ever. It is so much more too. Everyone pulling wheelies and riding them out. Everyone busting out crazy moves with gf on back and just having so much fun. Racing down a road and feeling the acceleration try to pull you off as you hit 13000 rpms with your buddy beside you. I dont see the appeal to riding slow and never having any fun with it. I have been riding for close to 3 years now. Always on a sport bike though.I rode my friends Harley and wasn't impressed at all.Anyone else have trouble riding with other kinds of bikes?
Im on a gsxr 600

Yea, they're having fun then they kill themselves, and hopefully no one else

i ride mainly supersports bikes and medium size bikes for yamaha.
sometimes i also ride there cruisers as im short in the leg so i have to do a lot of adopting to allow for brake differences, gear changes and the way the bike handles.

i dont mind them or the people who ride these bikes as not everyone wants to blast around like a nutter on a razor blade. some want to enjoy things as they ride and also take the girlfriend out on the back which you cannot do with a r1/gsxr or fireblade.

and after all my years of testing high specs bikes and 200 mph+ end machines i ended up buying a harley davidson nightster.
i just enjoyed it and the way it looked.never had a problem with it and if im honest the nightster pulls the women better than all the superbikes ive had.
just looks good parked up.
you ride what your comfortable with and im lucky that i can change my riding style for almost anything including the automatic t-max scooter.
and all the friends ive rode with in the local chapter do not have a problem with the sports bikes i have.

each to there own.

it s personal choice i have both a big cruiser a kawasaki vn 1500cc and a gsxr 1000cc.both give me loads of pleasure.im no angel when on the gsxr but i only unleash the power on a race track.there is no point being a tool and endangering others on the open roads

I've gotten stuck behind too many groups of harleys on curvy roads to be dumb enough to agree to putz around with them for a day. People who ride crusiers are the same kids who used to ride the short bus. They need to take it slow.

On the other hand I don't need to ride around with a bunch of squids either. I like to go fast when I want to go fast and I don't like other people calling too much attention to that.

Grow up, take your bike to the track. At 3 years, you're still a rookie, you just don't know it. You're being a squid. If you haven't been to the track, you owe it to yourself to give it a try. It's so much better than being an ass on the street, and you'll find out whether you really know how to ride expertly or not ( at 3 years, not likely). There's a huge difference in the level of riding you can achieve when you don't need to worry about cars, speed limits, traffic lights, curbs and guardrails. Think you're fast on the street? You're just fooling yourself, and maybe some of your buddies. Chances are, you'll never even know what hit you.
Meanwhile, the lawmakers are thinking about how to get rid of you. Unfortunately, the heat will land on responsible riders, too.

Maybe you should just find new riding buddies or get a bike that allows to stay with the group and doesnt make you wanna speed.

sounds like you're being pretty reckless on the street.

the problem isn't with the cruisers, it's with you. Cruisers are designed for street use. Sportbikes are designed for racing. Take yours to a race track, and you won't have any issues with being out of place.

I'm all for having a little fun on the street, but "pulling wheelies" and "busting out crazy moves" seriously damages the reputation of sportbike riders everywhere. Yes - your bike will handle and accelerate better than a cruiser. That's what it's made to do. Cruisers focus more on style and comfort. They're not made to do the same things, so it's not surprising that you enjoy different types of riding. that said, I've never had a problem slowing down to ride with my dad on his cruiser.

get to a trackday if you want to actually USE your sportbike. www.nesba.com
