...publication of an atheistic book...? ...yet I'm not phased in the least by being taken to church?
This Christian is my mother. We were in Barnes and Nobel and she followed me into the philosophy/religion section. She saw a book called "The Pocket Atheist" and automatically commented with something along the lines of, "How disgusting!"
So I'm curious. Why is my mother so threatened and insulted by reading the title of a book, yet I'm not particularly phased at all by reading a book I disagree with, in addition to gathering with a congregation of people I disagree with? (Through going to church and reading the Bible, it gives me introspect to the minds of the people who oppose my beliefs, which I'm open to. It doesn't appear to be an interpersonal exchange.)
