Any suggestions on Car Stereo Equipment?

I just recently bought a new car.. it already had a Sony Xplode cd player which was ok at the time but pretty much sucks now. I bought 2 12" subs and a great box for them, and a very cheap amp. Now, I decided to go a bit more expensive. I would like to sell the old subs and amp and buy 2 12-15" subs and a better amp. I bought a new cd player also, its a Kenwood KDC-MP438U with USB Interface. The owner of the store said it would help with the problem I had with the bass drowning out the lyrics (highs). Any suggestions on good subs and amp?
 
well first off that guy at the store lied to about the bass drowning out the highs, cuz i got the KDC-MP638U and theres like 60% bass and 40% highs. But anyway i have a alpine 1000 watt mono amp and 2 - 15 1000 watt kicker comp vr's and i get a headache everytime i ride in it.
 
hey i would go with JBL or sumthing a long the lines of alpine or even Hifonics for the amp..the subs i all ways wanted a pair of kick comps the square ones they always impressed me for sum odd reason or the jl audio w6 would be good..
