Anyone ELSE ABSOLUTLEY HATE TWILIGHT?

Twilight is good, but it is a bit over-rated. Edward cullen is charming character, but the book doesn't meet all of my standards especially the ending, it was a bit happily ever after, I thought it was going to be slightly more dark and sinister, but I did enjoy reading it.

I loath twilight it is horrid!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I still cant undersand why girls are crazy about it?? id rather watch porn

I Fucking Agree

I don't know who else has heard of it but I swear everywhere single place I go, I keep hearing about this book called "Twilight" by Stephanie Meyers and it is driving me insane!!! I have actually read it and it was terrible. It's directed towards 15 year old girls whose only concern is meeting the perfect guy who will rescue her and basically take care of her and blah, blah, blah ( I’m 14 read the Twilight didn’t bother with the rest of the series), a Prince Charming if you will. It's complete rubbish! The guy is a vampire (yes you heard me) and literally saves the girl like 5 times throughout the book. That is basically the point out of it. I seriously laughed out loud while reading it because it was so predictable and pointless. (Yes I read it. I do not believe in criticizing or praising a book without reading it first) It's 450 pages of a girl somehow getting in trouble and then what's his face comes in the nick of time. And this was an assignment for Honors English, so yes in some sort of way; I was forced to read it.
I have been to countless boards, stores, internet sites where I hear these young women praise this book as "The best book they have ever read." Isn't that tragic? That's the problem with today's society. Young women should be reading classics, empowering stories or at least something they can get something out of. All this book does is reinforce the notion that women need to be rescued and that there really is a Prince Charming waiting to be found and that once a girl finds him everything will be happily ever after from then on or if not that she’ll have a godlike amazingly handsome, immortal vampire dude that is willing to kill the world for you. I was at school the other day and actually saw two of my classmates including my TEACHER crying, yes crying about how Edward saved Bella at the end of the book and how much he really loves her and how cute it is, I of course in a daze, nearly fell off of my chair at how pathetic they sounded HE’S A FREAKIN BLOODY FICTIONOUS CHARACTER, PEOPLE GET A LIFE. I believe in love and I hope every girl who wants to find some amazing guy does but this book is complete nonsense and to hear a 46 year old English teacher dish about how much they love a "Vampire" just really depresses me.
Love isn't magic. There is no such thing as a fairytale and as much as I love the Little Mermaid to believe that's how it turns out with every girl would be a discredit to my intelligence! I would love to see people praise a classic like The Count of Monte Cristo or Pride and Prejudice, The Kite Runner, and A Thousand Splendid Suns. To enjoy a book of fiction or get lost in it is fine but to have faith in it to believe it's what you want for yourself (like marrying a freaking vampire!!! yes, I heard my teacher say she wants to marry this guy!!!) is just mind boggling. Perhaps I am just venting but why oh why is this book getting so much praise?!?!?!
I FUCKING LOVE THIS GUY WHO WROTE THIS COMMENT YOUR A FUCKING AWSOME SONNY JIM LOL I LOVE YOU

i hate twilight too! i read the first five chapters...and it sucked! i just stopped reading it. i dont really care what happened to bella and edward. some of my friends...who i thought very highly of...started illegally downloading the movie and the unpublished books and stuff. its like...this BOOK & MOVIE are making people BREAK THE LAW!!! everybody's so obsessed over it...but i just dont see it.

I hate, let me repeat that once more HATE twighlight.
it is a horribly written book and the movie is even worse, people are going way overboard with the whole cult thing its so strange, there was a girl in my class who had to go to the therapist because she has convinced herself she is a vampire and edward cullen is real! And when i see people wearing t-shirts saying thinks like "i heart edward"
and "i kissed a vampire and i liked it" it makes me burst out laughing! My school actualy has a twighlight club complete with hats and sweatshirts. im SICK of this and im SICK of stephanie meyers!

Twilight < or = Fire Place wood, AKA RUBBISH

Twilight sucks, and the only people who should be on this page is someone who doesnt like twilight, its not logical for a "twilight luver" as posted above to be searching about how much they hate twilight. Your probably had your mommy buy this book for you also.
That is all, who ever liked twilight go to a mentally insane asilum, and become legally menatally hilarious.

Oh yeah and if your a guy and read this story you should just come out of the closet because your most likely gay.

THANKYOUTHANKYOUTHANKYOUTHANKYOUTHANKYOUTHANKYOUTHANKYOUTHANKYOU

I absolutely despise Twilight.
I have read it and it is so poorly written I wanted to cry.
I tried to watch the film, hoping it would be better, but that failed also...
I can't understand why people think it's romantic when all it does is glorify abusive and obsessive relationships.

Stephenie Meyer is a dirty sexually repressed mormon letting out her urges through a terrible book that just sounds like a bad fanfiction.

Robert Pattinson is actually having breakdowns because of the stupid fans.

Thank you for this again :D

OMG! I am so freaking glad that other people hate these stupid books and movies as much as I do! I, too, agree that this series is not something that should be considered a classic many years from now, and when I have children, I will forbade this crap from being read. I would rather shoot myself than have one of my daughters (or heaven's forbid a son) act as pathetic and helpless as Bella. And the vampires! They are freaking creatures who suck blood! How in the Hell can they be considered romantic and be sought after so much?!? Whatever, hopefully these damned books lose their appeal soon before I completely lose my mind.

Twilight

Thank god I finally found some people hating Twilight.
I, too, despise Twilight. Now, this opinion is of myself:
I first started reading this book because one of my best friends recommended it to me. Now, I never read critics of a book before I start reading, may seem foolish, but this way I can fully develop my own opinion.

Now, Twilight.
Oh yes, let's start with our little Mary Sue.
What is with this story? Okay, our writer needed an excuse for the girl moving to Forks to live with her father which she doesn't really know. She has some kind of complex, and refuses to call her father Dad. Her mother gets presented as overly-protective/obsessive. The dad buys her a car, oh whoopie doo, which she actually adores.
Next day, she goes too school in her oh so loud car, she states being ugly, while in fact 5 guys immediately adore her, and meets this guy named Edward Cullen despising her with all his might. Oh yea, mention the fact he's drop-dead gorgeous.
Now, this could've turned into something interesting, Edward despising Bella. But no, after just a few chapters, it turns out they love eachother like hell.

As we continue this crappy story, the love between them developes, and you find out why they love eachother. Let me point it out:
He's hot and she smells good.

Yea. I'm serious.
Then we finally meet to my opinion an interesting character: Jacob Black.
Bella, being obsessed with our little Tinkerbell *Edward* asks him about the legend, and finds out about vampires.

After this a whole load of crap, finding out Edward is a 107 year old stalking pedophile and bella being a mary sue, with no flaws whatsoever, oh wait, no.
Her being a complete klutz, which is utterly annoying to me.

the story goes on, Bella plays with Jacobs feelings, Jacob doesn't develop much of a character in the first book, thus gaining my attention, since he for me had this air of mystery. Then we go on, Edward saves Bella's ass for several times, encourages her to ditch her father and go god-knows-where.
He hunts down the somewhat interesting James, who likes Bella as well, and whoop-dee-doo, the story draws an end.

I guess I'll just stop here. I didn't state a lot of things, like Edward being Mr. Perfect, most disgusting if you ask me, since I utterly hate "perfect" people, which are in my opinion the most imperfect beings there are.

Also, sorry for any grammical mistakes. My native language isn't english, but I tried my best.

Um, yeah. Calm down.

ok. i have some questions 2 ask you before i start fuming.

1.ARE YOU INSANE!?1?!?!?!?!?!
2.WHAT ON EARTH COULD POSSIBLY BE WRONG WITH THIS SERIES!?!!!??
3.What is your name, address and phone number, just so that i can track you down ank kill You with my super awesom vampire powers THAT I AQUIRED FROM READING THE SERIES!!!!!!!!!!
4.do you WANT a cult of angry twilight luvers like mysef at your doorstep at night trying to behead you????? you shouldnt voice an absurd oppinion like this on the internet.
5.(this isnt a question, more of a statment.) you must have not read much good litterature in youre life, because if you cannot appreciate the quality of this art.....YOU ARE MENTALLY UNSOUND!!!!!!!
6.thank you i think i am done fuming.(*takes a deep breath)
7.pls email me at [email protected] i would luv 2 argue with you firther.
byebye, you are insane
-biteme<3

Alright, lets take a deep breath.

First of all, you need to work on capitalization and grammar. Secondly, you literally say you have some question BEFORE you start fuming, but you instantly start fuming by asking a rhetorical question that is purely emotional instead of logical. Then after the questions you don't even "start" fuming.

Honey, having an opinion doesn't make you mentally unsound or insane. It actually makes you fairly smart for being able to form some sort of judgment of a subject based on the experiences of your life and personal ideas and morals. I don't think your insane to love Twilight, even though I despise it. I don't think someone is insane to despise it.

You are, unfortunately, not doing a very good job of selling the series and keeping its reputation good. You haven't GIVEN and reasons why it is so good nor have you explained how it ISN'T terrible. There is no rebuttals or anything in your argument, just purely emotion. When someone fights with emotion vs. logic, that person is immediately looked down upon because there is no point in their argument.

Another think about rabid twilight fans (though I'm not talking about you personally, please note)- hurting and insulting someone will not make them like the book anymore. I've heard people actually get physically hurt for dissing Twilight, and, that absolutely repulses me. Hurting someone mentally or physically will probably turn those people those twilight haters further off the books. Committing such immature actions will call together more otherwise impartial people on the series and make them despise it because of the rudeness of the fans. If any twilight fans came to my door to behead me, they would find themselves surrounded by police for assault. I'm sorry. I just don't work like that. Somehow, screaming how good it is still won't convince me of its apparent greatness. You need to give me reasons- reasons based on FACT, not opinion. Which means a reason like, "Edward is hot" is not a good enough argument- it's purely based on opinion. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Tell me about the depth of the characters, or good morals, or SOMETHING like that. I will probably rebuttal, but that's what a debate is.

I hope any of this didn't offend you too badly- but, seriously, you need to calm down. And, yes, I have read all of the books. Twice, in fact. I have seen the movie as well. I have read and debated thousands of times about Twilight. I have even debated why it is good, though I personally don't believe that way. Because if you can argue the other side of a story, then you can better defend your actual position on a story. I would recommend this exercise for yourself. It might open your mind a bit to others opinions, and it would at the very least give you some stronger arguments to support why Twilight is so great.

Erm, twilight have some bad moral values including the main vamp character wanting Bella by doing all the selfish acts. PLUS the book is boring PLUS the vamps are all fake PLUS its full of danger and Bella doesn't want to run away but let herself get stuck in all the mess PLUS it has lots of bad influence on teens.

Before you type anything rubbish at me I suggest u review the book again and YOURSELF. Don't let your words kill another person. This is serious. You'll have to think why we hate it. And yes people who doesn't like twilight are the smart ones.

and oh by the way post 431 has very good points there about reputations (NOOO I'm not talking about twilight). =) Keep it up we need more good people like you. =)

*sigh* most of my friends have read this book. I have not, but the way people talk about it constantly makes me NOT want to read it. All I ever hear is "OMG, Edward! He's amazing! Blah, blah, blah." It's like Edward is some disease that only affects (effects?) teenage girls, and the cure is yet to be found. In my opinion, the only reason they like it is because of Edward. Maybe they wish that ALL boys could be amazing vampires. Hate to break it to 'em, but vampires don't exist, and not every boy will be so "amazing"....
Anyway, I'm glad I found some other Twilight dis-likers lol :)

Although I disagree with your opinion (I myself love Twilight), I have to thank you about being pretty decent about it. People just like to rant on and on and on about how much they hate a book without any specific reasons. You are one of the only ones who actually gives legitimate reasons about why you don't like it.
You, do, however, need to calm down a little bit. Just because some of us like a good, cheesy romance with a sweep-you-off-your-feet type of guy once in a while DOESN'T mean that we don't have lives, or that we are pathetic for liking the idea of a perfect guy. We know that boys like Edward Cullen don't exist - we don't disillusion ourselves THAT much - but we still like to pretend sometimes. I cried when I was reading the books. That doesn't make me a immature teenie bopper who wants to make out with a fictional character. It just means that I am getting caught up in the emotion of what I consider to be a good story. There's nothing wrong with getting caught up into a sappy romance sometimes.
But still, at least you were decent about hating on it. It really bugs me when people say that they hate Twilight and they haven't even read it. At least you read it, and got an opinion off of that.

are you serious ? are you that bored with your own life. this book is absolutely terrible, and the film is no better. the storyline is over reaching. and i think the repetitive descriptions of the characters is boring, pick up a thesaurus or a dictionary. Personally i think it is pathetic that girls of all ages are plastering "Mrs Cullen" or " Mrs 'Jane' Cullen" all over the place. come on. use that creative mind, or lack there of, for something constructive and worthwhile. i guess this goes to show how many naive people are around.

Feel free to discuss this (:

The poster is right in some sense.
Despite being 15 years old [poster's cliche age] I have read this novel. It's not the love for Edward Cullen that captures me it's the skill that Meyers has to keep someone reading into the novel with such lust and excitement despite her giving the whole plot away in the blurb, no matter of their age.
I don't read this novel in the way poster is suggesting ''to find a perfect man' but for the sheer romance of this literature.
Poster is right in the sense that some people have become obsessed and over the top about the novel and I put the blame for that purely on the film, alot of people are only reading the novel becuase they watched the film and that is absurd. To enjoy any novel you can't of watched the films. No matter how good the films are, they are always different to the novel and therefore put a different perspective on the novel for the reader.
I agree that the obscure idea of a vampire with a hidden secret falls in love blah blah is a bit cheesy, but again, without repeating myself, it's Meyers skills to capture and control her audience with the characters of the novel. I also agree, that the other novels she mentioned are great literature and are most certainly not spoken about as much as they should be.
This is not me saying that this novel is great literature, it is merely me pointing out that it is not BAD literature, and Meyers skill [like many other authors] to capture an audience is worthy of recognition.

Please feel free to discuss this with me, email me '[email protected]'

I don't hate it... The idea is good but the writing and predcictablity annoy the shit out of me! For example everytime Bella and Edward kiss (which is too numerous to mention) he ends up pulling away and saying something like "You underestimate my self control." Then she bloody winges! WAH! If somebody else had written it might have been better but nobody did so it isn't.

I'd not really heard of twilight until the film came out, nobody spoke about until the film was released. I might've considered watching it but after hearing people constantly talk about it all the F***ING time, I automatically hated it. Why the hell are people getting so obsessed about a book, which supposedly is absolutely shit? They can't be obsessed with the film because I watched the first 30mins and it was so dull! The acting is terrible and the dialogue is even worse, plus there is nothing likeable about characters... it's just zzzzzz. I have to cope with my friends talking about twilight at least once every day, they are even having a twilight party before the next film comes out.

Ohh, and have you heard people have been comparing Meyer to Rowling... that is just madness!

Oh, also - even my friends who used to hate twilight have somehow been convented.. it's like a fucking cult! And to that person who was threatening people because they don't like Twilight.. seriously mate - get a life.

Or i'll just join in the anger.. Anybody want to join me in the destruction of everything twilight related? (:

xx
