Anyone find bike riding a hassle when you have your glasses on?

Hello all,

I usually commute to work on my GSXR600, clocking 50miles daily.

Problems:
When it rains I need to put my visor ¾ down else my glasses get wet. Problem here is both, my glasses and visor fog in seconds. Pulling up/down visor can be very annoying while riding. At times even I need to hold my breath while squeezing through traffic with visor down as I want maximum visibility while carrying out those manoeuvres. I’m I the only one doing this? Ok I know wearing contacts could be a solution but due to the nature of my work, I need my glasses. Wearing a balaclava helps when it’s cold but increases the vapour within helmet.

Action taken:
I bought those anti-fog/ water repellent solutions from renowned bike shops. I even bought new ones from the latest Bike Show in Birmingham. Problem with those are (i) it takes heaps of time to apply on the glasses, (ii) they do work with water vapour but on streets they don’t work very well as there are more chemicals airborne. To make matters worse wiping the extra water causes a smudge on the glasses (same for visor) and this reduces visibility further. (iii) The wax ones are worse, (smug is more apparent when you wipe them while riding in rain) if you have long eye lashes they brush against your glasses and get into your eye.

Have they invented Bike helmets with breathing kits almost similar to Jet pilots helmets? You know the ones that make you look & sound like Darth vador? The mechanics would be similar to the breathing pipes divers have in their masks. Does that make sense? Yes/no … do I sound Geeky?

Any ideas?

Cheers,
S

yeah that's a big problem. I have found that putting a bandana over my mouth and nose can decrease fogging the glasses but it's not foolproof.
