I just purchased a 1998 Mercedes Benz C280 with 130,xxx miles. Has the keyless start thing (looks like a square at the end)
Needless to say, I know nothing about the cars lol. Learning as I go.
Well It worked fine, until NOW. All of a sudden the cars key will not unlock or do anything which it did. We tried jumping the car which worked once when we assumed battery was dead- it worked.
This time... didn't work. When I insert the key, it connects, and the beeps twice. The little lights come on the dash saying the temp. & milage. But the key will not move at all!
Earlier in the day my husband tried start it and the key did move, would fire but not turn over, and while he turned the key... a large orange triagle with exclamation mark lit. Never seen that before.
I have only drove the car maybe 3 times. The last time I drove it I did notice the check engine light come on, but do not think it is related...
Anyone know something I don't... or more about these cars? Thinking it maybe a security lock type thing... I hope nothing major! The car runs... well ran beautifully when I drove it. And I know its not smart to buy a used vehicle I know nothing about, but well I did.
