Im a 20 year old college student trying to purchase a small dependable to get to work & school. Im about to buy a 98 plymouth neon for $1400 and my mom says it sound & drive good when we test drove it. I mean I know you get what you pay for..should I or should I not? and the good & bads

Neons are a major no no. They have all the dodge problems. Bad transmissions and bad heads. Some go to hell within 40,000 miles. A good gauge on car to buy is observe the roads. Look at what model cars are still on the road after so long. Old accords and civics especially last long due to their lower compression engines and good engineering. I don't see many Neons around because they've all retired to the junk yard. Any Toyota product except whatever truck had the frame recall would be a good choice. Trust me, stay far, far away from any Neon.
