Are Audi's reliable compared to other European cars?

I am in the market for an all-wheel-drive vehicle (sedan or coupe). I have a BMW 328i and it is great in the summer and spring but in the winter weather I need to have an AWD car for the snow and ice. Are Audit's known to break down frequently? Is there a better make and model for the winter?
