are chevrolets and gmc the same?

GMC is the name of the company -General Motors Corporation and the brand of vehicle they make is called Chevrolet

GMC are Chevy but a little better kinda of like Mercury to Ford, You can get a base model Chevy but not a base model GMC. They have more options standard and built just a little bit better

They are exactly the same but for a few trim and cosmetic differences.
At one time the different GM divisions had their own engines so those were different but that is no longer the case.
