Are converse good for cruise skating?

Well, I'm getting my first skateboard in a couple of weeks and I just want to focus on learning to actually skate before attempting any tricks and stuff. I'll mainly be using the skateboard for commuting and going places when I'm bored. Anyway, since my parents are buying it for me I don't really want to ask for more stuff and I've already got like 5 pairs of converse that are close to new. Anyway, are they good for sruise skating or should I just get another pair of shoes? If so, what brand/ type of shoe do you recommend?

Converse aren't really good for skating their only good for like travel but vans are the best skate shoe if your looking to buy one pick the one called chukka low and its really a skating shoe
