Are Republicans dumb enough to run on a anti-Gay Marriage campaign?

I wonder if the Federal Court ruling on 'prop 8 will bring out more far Right Wing-Nuts and religious zealots who want a Western Sharia type Government. Would it be wise for Republicans to offend Gays even more considering they have already offended Blacks and Hispanics with their views and their version of morality?
