Are skins for your cell phone any good?

I am getting a new cell phone, but problem is the store only has it in black and I don\t like black. I was thinking about getting a "skin" for it, which is supposed to be like a sticker or decal that covers your phone like this

do you think it looks tacky? I have never seen the real thing, maybe it will just peel off and look bad

They look good but they start to peel after 3-4 weeks, I recommend you check out www.gyvergear.com they sell inexpensive cases for all types of phone models.
