Are tall people a lot wider? I measure 36-26.5-38 and I'm 5 ft 10 I

thought I was normal? I thought I was although tall, fairly standard size, I'm fairly slim and toned. I guess I am in proportion. One of my friends is about 5ft7-8 and was giving away her clothes and said they wouldn't fit me, I never figured I was that much obiously bigger than other people!?
