There are both, not in huge numbers, but both
I don't know how much they earn, to make a decent wages in a taxi takes a lot of hours (I did it 40 years ago, but not recently)
A AZ or DZ license for a truck, I see signs looking for drivers all the time, but they also like experience
Forget driving a taxi, it is a low skill job, and not a "profession ". Minimum wages and no future.
If you are qualified, to drive a straight truck, with an Ontario D license, it will pay 15 an hour, to start, but you may have to "hand load and unload the cargo " and that takes endurance and muscles.
Tractor trailer drivers with a Ontario class A licence are paid either by the kilometre, when loaded, or by the hour. Starting rates will be 15 to 18 an hour, or 44 cents a kilometre by distance.
Neither of these jobs will get you a "work visa " if you are not a Canadian. We have more than enough of each here now.
