1. What is at issue in the distinction between (a) something being pious BECAUSE IT PLEASES THE GODS and (b) something pleasing the gods BECAUSE IT IS PIOUS?
2. Are the religious (pious) practices of prayer and sacrifice (offerings to God or gods) to be understood as a kind of skill or art of trading with God (or the gods)? Or can they be understood in another way?

1. What is the relation between Socrates wisdom: not thinking that he knows something when in fact he does not know it; and his vocation (service to the god) to remind Athens to care for it soul more than for wealth, honors, reputation et al.? Explain how the two are or might be connected.
2. Comment on Socrates attitude toward death and his refusal to enter a plea for mercy. Of the reasons he gives, which is the more persuasive one from the point of view of his defense and why?

I have so many mid-terms coming up, just needed some slack. Any help will be appreciated.
