I asked my vet and he said beet pulp was really good but have looked up some on line and other people say its bad.
I have been feeding her beet pulp soaked and she has been having mild cases of diarrhea on and off for the past few days. The beet pulp is sloppy and I started her slowly on it she has been on it for about 3 weeks now.
Also I am worried I am giving her to much.
She needs to gain some weight
I have been giving her 3 quarts of senior feed TWICE daily is that to much along with about 15 pounds of good grass hay and about 4 quarts of alfalfa pellets.
I also wanted to make sure if this was enough beet pulp.
In the morning I give about one cup (Before soaking) of beet pulp and at night i give to cups (before soaking) is that to little or to less?
She is not a senior she is 8 just my vet said it could be food even for younger horses.
I am not giving her any grain (Unless senior feed counts as grain) And i give her alfalfa pellets because I dont have any alfalfa hay at the moment.
Can she founder just off to mucn senior feed?
