Besides being shy of PDA, Why wont my girlfriend kiss me in front of our friends?

whenever we are around some of our good friends.. she will back up 99% of the time when i go to kiss her... until they're gone, then she'll kiss me. im just wondering why she doesnt act all lovey in front of our friends... she says shes not really shy about "PDA".. i could never seem to figure this out =|
