I am trying to write some Christmas music for my 2 octave hand bell choir. You would think this would be easy, but it isn't. My main requirement is that I want to have all of my notes on the Grand staff in a clean, concise layout.
Most of the music is whole notes and then a simple melody line. However, the software I use will not let me write like this unless I write in "layers." So layer 1 would be whole notes and layer 2 melody line. Easy? Oh, no. The melody line straddles the Bass and Treble clefs, so what I get are whole notes on the treble clef along with rest marks for the melody layer. It just looks messy and confusing.
I have Finale notepad (the free version) and my boss has the full one. So if this is different in the full version let me know and I can use his.
