Beta fish question? (pictures included)?

I have a male beta and the guy at the pet store gave me this other little brown fish to add to the tank.. I did and they get along perfectly living in this bowl (see first picture).. I also have a goldfish living in a smaller bowl (see second picture)..

So are those bowls to small for them? and what kind of fish do you think my brown one is?
