Every morning entering my grannies home, I was greeted with the aroma of the brewing of fresh coffee. What is it about the fresh aroma of brewing coffee? I love to taste warm herbal teas, the tinkling of fine china tea cups, coffee cups and pretty stainless steel silverware. Adding the touch of a gentle flickering candle light to ignite the atmosphere with a delicate touch stimulates the setting of ambience.
The perfect hors d'oeuvres is the complement of a perfect gathering. I remember Big Mama serving people a fine dinner, while she sat with them at the formal dining room table. Everything she cooked was delicious especially her Green Stuffed Bell-Peppers. Her homemade peach clobbers were perfect-each bite would melt in my mouth literally.
I have not sense tasted not one peach cobbler of her caliber. It was always perfect! The crust was perfect, and the peaches tasted heavenly. Taking a seat at the formal dining room table with my Big Mama was always enjoyable. Sometimes, her daughter Little Mama would be home to join us on the weekend before all he guest would arrive...the moment was pleasing and delightful.
It was my job and responsibility to test the homemade macaroni and cheese, and that bowl did not make it to the formal dining room table until Little Mama heard me sing, "UMMMMMM." Once I sung my song at the first bit, she would say, "Now, its ready to be placed on the formal dining room table." I didn't lie, if it was missing perfection, I told my Little Mama the truth. She knew exactly what to add. That was another moment where the three of us would laugh.
I helped set the dining room table. I never chewed gum, but one day my boss Ms. Dorothy Walsh" from Pizza Inn Corporate Office (Human Resources) took her entire department to the Mansion on Turtle Creek, and I was chewing gum. That restaurant was stunning and everything was fine. I didn't know where to put my gum. I will not tell! But I learned to discard of the gum before you enter a fine restaurant, and it is better to enjoy a small mint rather than chew gum in church or a fine establishment.
I will never forget that moment, and that is why I enjoy teaching a little bit of dining etiquette. I never go deep in the teaching, but the essential basics. I realize that some people are private-just like me. So I rather not put anyone on the spot...I simple show an illustration and each can maintain their privacy. I squeeze it in during my presentation.
Drinking coffee was my Big Mama and Little Mama's flavor, but today, I feel like drinking a cup of coffee.
