I am wondering if I need to buy an expensive bike to ride my bike to school, my school is about 12 miles away internet what do you think

It's like the old "Fram" commercial...if you remember that one. "You can pay me now, or pay me later." A bike from a discount store may last a year or so - maybe - before it starts to fall apart. Most use cheap bottom brackets (crank bearings) and a freewheel vs. a cassette rear cog. The cassette is much stronger. I no longer have a car - on a pension. My Raleigh Hybrid & mass transit take me everywhere I need to go. In less than two years, the bike just topped 1,000 miles. Oh...I forgot; double walled rims vs. single wall. See link below...
