Blackberry Pearl: Does one need to have internet/email access plan in order

to use a blackberry pearl? I'm trying to buy one, but I heard that you need to buy the 30 dollar plan with internet/email in order to use it. Can it still function (make calls, text) even without the internet?

Yes of course. I own the pearl and I use all the nice features without paying for internet. (Though I don't have internet on it, its the best phone I have ever had! The typing on it is SO nice!)
