BMW HELP. trans safe prog?

So the car runs fine butt sometimes when I hit the gas hard the trans safe light turns on and the car still drives butt it has no pickup in drive butt reverses find and when I turn the car off it resets the trans safe prog what can i do pleas help.
Do I need too change the trans fluid?
this is a bmw 740i 2000
