The problem seems to be with the VANOS (BMW valve control system of some sort) which is part of the engine (engine oil touches it) so it 'should' be covered under the 60,000 mile part of the warranty. The car just turned 40,000 miles. Anyone get BMW to do an 'under warranty' repair in a situation like this? Thanks!
